Blog Post 10 - Nonfiction - Safari Readers: Snakes by Tristan Walters

The second book I chose is the information text Safari Readers: Snakes (Safari Readers - Wildlife Books for Kids) by Tristan Walters. This book is filled with colorful and beautiful photographs of snakes, and it is packed full of details and information. The book has an easy reading format, and it gives students a lot of scientific information. It also has some engaging puzzles as well.

This is a non-fiction text because it is informational. The book gives real and true information about snakes. It also provides the reader with photographs of snakes around the world. It is a book packed full of information for snake lovers.

With this book, students can begin to build background information about snakes and then choose one that they would like to research further. As part of a writing unit on writing nonfiction texts, students can choose a snake that they would like to learn about and then do research on that snake using other informational texts. They could also choose two different snakes from the book and compare them.

I found the book to be very engaging because of the beautiful photographs. It is an easy read for a young child. I think any snake lover would love to read this book.
